Digital twins in aircraft production and MRO: challenges and opportunities

AbstractThe digital twin (DT) concept, value-adding connecting the real and digital world, has been a rising trend in recent years, while the implementation and observation of challenges are still subject to research. Implementations of holistic Digital Twins of tangible and intangible assets of complex products or processes are often ideal-theoretic; instead, only subsystems and processes are replicated, which digital representations serve specific, meaningful applications. Specifically, with its distinct characteristics, the aviation industry and its production show various future application scenarios, which we use case-driven outline in this work. Therefore, we first summarize common, industry-neutral challenges of implementing Digital Twins and give an overview of aircraft production characteristics. Then, we will outline different fields of utilizing the Digital Twin concept and highlight integrational, organizational, and compliance-related challenges as well as opportunities in the context of aircraft production and Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO). The use cases are located at different aircraft life cycle phases, from production system development, production supplying logistics, and Quality Assurance (QA) up to retrofit.

Olive (Olea europaea L.) reproductive biology: implications for yield, compatibility conundrum, environmental constraints.

Olive (Olea europaea L.) is an important Mediterranean tree species with a longstanding history of cultivation, boasting a diverse array of local cultivars. While traditional olive orchards are valued for their cultural and aesthetic significance, they often face economic sustainability challenges in the modern context. The success of both traditional and newly introduced cultivars (e.g. those obtained by crossbreeding) is hindered by self-incompatibility, a prevalent issue for this species that results in low fruit set when limited genetic diversity is present. Further, biological, environmental, and agronomic factors have been shown to interlink in shaping fertilization patterns, hence impacting on the final yield. Climatic conditions during pollination, such as excessive rainfall or high temperatures, can further exacerbate the problem. In this work, we provide an overview of the various complex and multifaceted factors that trigger the phenomenon of sub-optimal fruit set in olive trees. Through this work, we aim to provide a comprehensive understanding of the interplay among these factors, shedding light on potential mechanisms and pathways that contribute to the observed outcomes in the context of self-incompatibility of olive. This review aims to contribute to the development of sustainable olive production systems and the preservation of this vital component of Mediterranean culture.

High-performance heterometallic photocatalysts afforded by polyoxometalate synthons for efficient H2 production

MoS2-based materials have emerged as photoelectric semiconductors characterized by a narrow band gap, high capacity for absorbing visible light, and reduced H2 adsorption energy comparable to Pt. These attributes render them appealing for application in photocatalytic hydrogen production. Despite these advantages, the widespread adoption of MoS2-based materials remains hindered by challenges associated with limited exposure to active sites and suboptimal catalytic hydrogen production efficiency. To address these issues, we have designed and synthesized a new class of highly dispersed bimetallic/trimetallic sulfide materials. This was achieved by developing polyoxometalate synthons containing Ni-Mo elements, which were subsequently reacted with thiourea and CdS. The resulting Ni3S2-MoS2 and Ni3S2-MoS2-CdS materials achieve photocatalytic hydrogen production rates of 2770 and 2873 μmol g–1h−1, respectively. Notably, the rate of 2873 μmol g–1h−1 for Ni3S2-MoS2-CdS surpassed triple (3.23 times) the performance of CdS and nearly sextuple (5.77 times) that of single MoS2. These materials outperformed the majority of MoS2-based photocatalysts. Overall, this study introduces a straightforward methodology for synthesizing bimetallic/trimetallic sulfides with enhanced photocatalytic H2 evolution performance. Our findings underscore the potential of transition metal sulfide semiconductors in the realm of photocatalysis and pave the way for the development of more sustainable energy production systems.

THE POTENTIAL OF VIRTUAL REALITY AND ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN MODELING PRODUCT INNOVATIONS OF VIRTUAL CORPORATION

This scientific article explores the characteristics of modeling product innovations in virtual corporations that operate in online environments (without physical offices). The authors note that the proliferation of virtual reality and artificial intelligence in modeling product innovations for virtual corporations holds great potential. According to the provisions outlined, the article aims to determine the potential of virtual reality and artificial intelligence in modeling product innovations for virtual corporations. The research demonstrates that while the key characteristics of effective product innovations for virtual corporations are shaped by advancements in information processing, organizational dynamics, and the development of production systems, virtual reality, and artificial intelligence tools create the potential for their modeling. The practical significance of the research lies in expanding the knowledge about the impact of VR and AI tools on the processes of modeling product innovations and in shaping opportunities for developing strategies for their effective utilization.

Water-land-Food Production System Interconnections

Water-land-food (WLF) is a fundamental resource that supports human survival and development. In the 21st century, with the acceleration of industrialization and urbanization in developing countries, the phenomena of industrial water use squeezing agricultural water use and land encroachment by construction land are very common. To a certain extent, this has aggravated the problems of irrational allocation of water resources in the production system, shortage of land resources and food security. Against this background, this study, based on a large number of literature searches, firstly, summarizes the research progress of water-land-food production system. Secondly, from the perspective of "interconnectedness" of WLF, we summarize the basic resource relationships among the three production systems and construct a systematic study of WLF production systems. Finally, based on the comparison with related studies, it is proposed that the future research focus of WLF production system includes: (1) Regional WLF production system research. (2) Resource regulation of regional WLF production system. (3) benign development of WLF production system under ecological environment. (4) Sustainability of WLF production system under food security.

Higher Plant-Derived Biostimulants: Mechanisms of Action and Their Role in Mitigating Plant Abiotic Stress.

Modern agriculture is being challenged by deteriorating edaphoclimatic conditions and increasing anthropogenic pressure. This necessitates the development of innovative crop production systems that can sustainably meet the demands of a growing world population while minimizing the environmental impact. The use of plant biostimulants is gaining ground as a safe and ecologically sound approach to improving crop yields. In this review, biostimulants obtained from different higher plant sources are presented under the term higher plant-derived biostimulants (hPDBs). Their mechanisms of action regulate physiological processes in plants from germination to fructification, conditioned by responses induced in plant mineral nutrition and primary metabolism, specialized metabolism, photosynthetic processes, oxidative metabolism, and signaling-related processes. The aim of this review is to collect and unify the abundant information dispersed in the literature on the effects of these biostimulants, focusing on crops subjected to abiotic stress conditions and the underlying mechanisms of action.

Spatiotemporal Evolution Characteristics and Driving Factors of Water-Energy-Food-Carbon System Vulnerability: A Case Study of the Yellow River Basin, China

With the growing influences of anthropogenic activities and climatic change, the problem concerning the vulnerability of the Water-Energy-Food-Carbon (WEFC) system in the Yellow River Basin is prominent. Using the VSD framework, the WEFC system vulnerability evaluation index system was constructed with 60 cities in the Yellow River Basin as the samples, and the WEFC system vulnerability of each city was measured from 2010 to 2019. Kernel density estimation, Theil index, and spatial correlation analysis were employed to investigate spatio-temporal evolution characteristics. Geodetector was utilized to analyze the driving factors of WEFC system vulnerability. The results demonstrate that: (1) The vulnerability of the WEFC system in the Yellow River Basin tends to decrease, with a spatial pattern of “low in the middle and high on both sides”; the vulnerability is largest in the upper and lower reaches, while smallest in the middle reaches. (2) The spatial difference in vulnerability narrows in the middle and lower reaches, while expanding in the upper reaches. The differences among the three major regions mainly originate from within the region, with the upper reaches having the largest difference and contribution; the vulnerability is featured with a significant spatial correlation, with the upper and lower reaches cities mostly displaying a “high-high” agglomeration and the middle reaches mainly showing a “low-low” one. (3) Factors, including the carbon and ecological carrying capacity coefficient, water resource development and utilization rate, and urbanization rate, mainly influence the WEFC system vulnerability; the spatial heterogeneity of core drivers at the regional scale is obvious, with the upper reaches regions being more strongly influenced by factors of the water resources system, while the middle and lower reaches regions are more sensitive to factors concerning industrial pollution of the energy subsystem. The explanatory power of carbon ecological carrying capacity reaches its peak in the middle reaches. The interaction of factors increases the strength of the impact on vulnerability. This study provides decision support and policy suggestions for achieving a balanced and coordinated development of water resource utilization, energy development, food production, and carbon cycle system in the Yellow River Basin. Investigating WEFC system vulnerability to support SDG 11 provided valuable insights and policy strategies for building cities that are inclusive, secure, resource-efficient, and resilient in the face of climate change and disaster risks.

Investigation of the potential of yeast strains for phytase biosynthesis in a two-step screening procedure

Research into phytase production is useful for improving the efficiency of animal production, reducing environmental impact, and contributing to the development of sustainable and efficient animal production systems. This study aims to investigate the potential of yeast strains for phytase biosynthesis in nutrient media. Phytase is a phosphomonoesterase (E.C 3.1.3.8) catalyzing in a ladder-like manner the dephosphorylation of phytic acid and its salts, with various resulting myo-inositol phosphates and phosphoric acid. Yeasts of the genera Saccharomyces, Zygosaccharomyces, Candida, and Pichia were evaluated in a two-step screening procedure for phytase production. One hundred and eighteen strains were screened in the first stage, which was conducted on four types of solid culture media containing calcium phytate as the selected background. On PSM medium, many strains were found to form halos as early as the 24th hour of development. Several strains with significant potential for enzyme production were evaluated in the second step of the screening. It was conducted in a liquid culture medium. In conclusion, the strain C. melibiosica 2491 was selected for further studies when cultured in a YPglu culture medium. Further research will focus on finding suitable conditions that increase the biosynthesis of the enzyme, which is of significant technological and practical interest for animal nutrition.

Measurement of the level of high-quality agricultural development and analysis of spatial differences - An empirical study based on panel data in the Yangtze River Delta region

In the context of China entering the overlapping period of common prosperity and rural revitalization, rural revitalization under the vision of common prosperity is an important practical issue, and improving the utilization rate of agricultural resources is conducive to exploring the optimal path of improving the utilization efficiency of arable land resources, realizing the modernization of agriculture and assisting in rural revitalization. Based on the panel empirical data in the Yangtze River Delta region, this study firstly summarizes the research hotspots and trends of "high-quality development of agriculture" at home and abroad. Secondly, based on the relevant theories, we construct a theoretical framework for measuring the level and spatial differentiation of "high quality of agriculture", which contains "two sides and five basic dimensions". Then, the stata stepwise regression method is used to eliminate highly correlated variables, establish a comprehensive indicator system for measuring the trend of "regional agricultural production system and yield high quality development", and utilize the entropy value method to measure the trend of regional change in the comprehensive agricultural industry. Combining the five basic agricultural dimensions, analyze what factors affect the level of high-quality development of agriculture and spatial distribution differences. Combining the results of the analysis of the factors affecting the level of high-quality development and spatial differences in agriculture, we will draw a conclusion on the sustainable development of agriculture, and provide an appropriate way of operation for the strategy of high-quality integrated development of agriculture in the Yangtze River Delta region.

Development of a tag-free plant-made interferon gamma production system with improved therapeutic efficacy against viruses.

Plants offer a promising platform for cost-effective production of biologically active therapeutic glycoproteins. In previous studies, we have developed a plant expression system based on Bamboo mosaic virus (BaMV) by incorporating secretory signals and an affinity tag, which resulted in notably enhanced yields of soluble and secreted fusion glycoproteins (FGs) in Nicotiana benthamiana. However, the presence of fusion tags on recombinant glycoproteins is undesirable for biomedical applications. This study aimed to develop a refined expression system that can efficiently produce tag-free glycoproteins in plants, with enhanced efficacy of mature interferon gamma (mIFNγ) against viruses. To accommodate the specific requirement of different target proteins, three enzymatically or chemically cleavable linkers were provided in this renovated BaMV-based expression system. We demonstrated that Tobacco etch virus (TEV) protease could process the specific cleavage site (LTEV) of the fusion protein, designated as SSExtHis(SP)10LTEV-mIFNγ, with optimal efficiency under biocompatible conditions to generate tag-free mIFNγ glycoproteins. The TEV protease and secretory-affinity tag could be effectively removed from the target mIFNγ glycoproteins through Ni2+-NTA chromatography. In addition, the result of an antiviral assay showed that the tag-free mIFNγ glycoproteins exhibited enhanced biological properties against Sindbis virus, with comparable antiviral activity of the commercialized HEK293-expressed hIFNγ. Thus, the improved BaMV-based expression system developed in this study may provide an alternative strategy for producing tag-free therapeutic glycoproteins intended for biomedical applications.

Effects of altered gravity on growth and morphology in Wolffia globosa implications for bioregenerative life support systems and space-based agriculture

Understanding the response of plants to varied gravitational conditions is vital for developing effective food production in space bioregenerative life support systems. This study examines the impact of altered gravity conditions on the growth and morphological responses of Wolffia globosa (commonly known as “water lentils” or “duckweed”), assessing its potential as a space crop. Although an experiment testing the effect of simulated microgravity on Wolffia globosa has been previously conducted, for the first time, we investigated the effect of multiple gravity levels on the growth and morphological traits of Wolffia globosa plants. The plant responses to simulated microgravity, simulated partial gravity (Moon), and hypergravity environments were evaluated using random positioning machines and the large-diameter centrifuge. As hypothesized, we observed a slight reaction to different gravitational levels in the growth and morphological traits of Wolffia globosa. The relative growth rates (RGR) of plants subjected to simulated microgravity and partial gravity were reduced when compared to those in other gravity levels. The morphological analysis revealed differences in plant dimensions and frond length-to-width ratios under diverse gravity conditions. Our findings showed that Wolffia globosa is responsive to gravitational changes, with its growth and morphological adaptations being slightly influenced by varying gravitational environments. As for other crop species, growth was reduced by the microgravity conditions; however, RGR remained substantial at 0.33 a day. In conclusion, this study underscores the potential of Wolffia globosa as a space crop and its adaptability to diverse gravitational conditions, contributing to the development of sustainable food production and bioregenerative life support systems for future space exploration missions.

Animal trypanosomosis eliminated in a major livestock production region in Senegal following the eradication of a tsetse population.

African animal trypanosomosis (AAT) was one of the main disease-related constraints to the development of intensive livestock production systems in the Niayes region of Senegal, a 30km wide strip of land along the coast between Dakar and Saint-Louis. To overcome this constraint, the Government of Senegal initiated an area-wide integrated pest management programme combining chemical control tactics with the sterile insect technique to eradicate a population of the tsetse fly Glossina palpalis gambiensis Vanderplank, 1949 (Diptera, Glossinidae) in this area. The project was implemented following a phased conditional approach, and the target area was divided into three blocks treated sequentially. This study aims to assess the temporal dynamics of the prevalence of Trypanosoma spp. during the implementation of this programme. Between 2009 and 2022, 4,359 blood samples were collected from cattle and screened for trypanosomes using both the buffy coat and ELISA techniques, and PCR tests since 2020. The seroprevalence decreased from 18.9% (95%CI: 11.2-26.5) in 2009 to 0% in 2017-2022 in block 1, and from 92.9% (95%CI: 88.2-97) in 2010 to 0% in 2021 in block 2. The parasitological and serological data confirm the entomological monitoring results, i.e., that there is a high probability that the population of G. p. gambiensis has been eradicated from the Niayes and that the transmission of AAT has been interrupted in the treated area. These results indicate the effectiveness of the adopted approach and show that AAT can be sustainably removed through the creation of a zone free of G. p. gambiensis.

The article analyzes the concepts of the commodity chain in tourism, features of the global tourism production system. Nowadays, there is a boom in technologies and innovations that leads to changes and improvements in the tourism industry. The network technology has revolutionized the travel industry by making information more accessible, enhancing communication and automating different processes. Innovation gives flashpackers and fans (followers) the feeling of safety and participation. Individuals actively participate in trips that meet the expectations of their social group, using the travel experience to enhance their social status within their network. Commodity chains trace the process of production from raw materials to the final product. The commodity chain concept in tourism helps to develop the complex network of activities and inputs involved in creating the tourist experience. The development of the global tourism production system is able, among other things, to play a certain positive role in the socialization of individuals, especially minors.

Multicriteria requirement ranking based on uncertain knowledge representation and reasoning

The abundance of complex natural language descriptions related to requirements data presents major challenges for requirement analysis. Knowledge graphs (KGs), as the latest achievement in symbolic studies, are widely used in various fields due to their rich semantic expressive abilities. However, existing methods that mine resource description framework (RDF) triples in classical KGs cannot effectively capture the fuzzy semantic information in the product development system. To address this, we propose a multicriteria requirement ranking method based on uncertain knowledge representation and reasoning (KRR). First, we defined a model for representing uncertain knowledge to organize diverse data from multiple sources. This process was accomplished by constructing the requirement ontology, which is based on the function-behaviour-structure (FBS) model and requirements modelling-related documents. Next, a knowledge representation approach named the fuzzy requirement knowledge graph (FRKG) was devised by combining attribute confidence and predicate fuzziness. Then, knowledge reasoning rules were designed to enhance the edges in the FRKG, unveiling potential relationships between nodes. Utilizing the enriched FRKG (EFRKG), we proposed a multicriteria requirement ranking method based on grey relational analysis (GRA). To validate the effectiveness of the proposed approach, we conducted a case study involving unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Furthermore, the semantic extension capability of FRKG was evaluated, and a comparison with traditional multicriteria requirement ranking methods was performed to demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed approach from both perspectives.

Assessment of the effects of production system development projects: Case study of Lytkarino Optical Glass Factory

Objectives. Effective import substitution can be achieved only through the creation and use of efficient domestic production capacities. The aim of this study is to develop and justify a method for the integrated assessment of the effects of projects aimed at the introduction of new equipment, including import substitution projects.Methods. The research was based on systemic and dialectical approaches, as well as systemic, comparative, economic and mathematical methods, and statistical analysis.Results. The paper proposes a method for the integrated assessment of production system development projects. In order to obtain a synthetic assessment, a system of indicators was developed to study the effects of production system development projects, i.e., projects for the introduction of new equipment. The effects of the introduction of new equipment can be divided into internal and external: potential development, socioeconomic, import independence, public, and environmental. The indicators are not current values, but changes in dynamics. A comprehensive consideration of the effects allows the existing criteria for decision-making to be expanded when implementing projects to develop the production system. It also allows the impact on both the enterprise and society to be assessed. The authors define both the quantitative and qualitative indicators for each group of effects. On the basis of the author’s system of indicators, a methodology for comparative comparison of indicators using normalized indices was developed and the calculation of a generalized indicator substantiated. The proposed system of indicators was successfully tested at the Lytkarino Optical Glass Factory science-intensive enterprise when assessing a new domestic device for the development of the production system.Conclusions. The results of the approved method for integrated assessment enabled the use of diverse indicators for the quantitative and qualitative assessment of the effects of the introduction of science-intensive projects. This included projects for import substitution of machinery and equipment. A combination of various effects will be relevant to any socioeconomic system, so the proposed integrated assessment method for evaluating the effects is universal to a certain extent. It can thus be adapted for scientific, technical and technological projects on import substitution of any industrial enterprise.

Research on Hydrogen Production System Technology Based on Photovoltaic-Photothermal Coupling Electrolyzer

Solar hydrogen production technology is a key technology for building a clean, low-carbon, safe, and efficient energy system. At present, the intermittency and volatility of renewable energy have caused a lot of “wind and light”. By combining renewable energy with electrolytic water technology to produce high-purity hydrogen and oxygen, which can be converted into electricity, the utilization rate of renewable energy can be effectively improved, while helping to improve the solar hydrogen production system. This paper summarizes and analyzes the research status and development direction of solar hydrogen production technology from three aspects. Energy supply mode: the role of solar PV systems and PT systems in this technology is analyzed. System control: the key technology and system structure of different types of electrolytic cells are introduced in detail. System economy: the economy and improvement measures of electrolytic cells are analyzed from the perspectives of cost, consumption, efficiency, and durability. Finally, the development prospects of solar hydrogen production systems in China are summarized and anticipated. This article reviews the current research status of photovoltaic-photothermal coupled electrolysis cell systems, fills the current research gap, and provides theoretical reference for the further development of solar hydrogen production systems.

Economic aspects of innovative strategy of enterprise development in the conditions of macroeconomic instability

Methods. When conducting the study of the economic aspects of the innovative strategy of the enterprise development in conditions of macroeconomic instability, the method of scientific abstraction is used – in determining the theoretical and methodological approaches regarding the essence of the innovative type of development of production and economic systems; system approach - when using a methodical approach to the components of the innovative development management mechanism at the micro- and meso-levels. Results. The algorithm for the implementation of an innovative strategy for the development of production and economic systems at the micro- and macro-levels is defined, it is proposed to use V.E. Deming’s theory of quality improvement within the framework of the assessment of qualitative changes in development based on the innovative strategy and, based on a systemic approach, to conduct an assessment using a comprehensive indicator of innovative development; taking into account the concept of management to coordinate all phases of the mechanism of innovative development using the principles of the rule of five logistics. Novelty. The methodical approach to the assessment of the innovative development of production and economic systems at the micro- and macro-levels in the conditions of macroeconomic instability is proposed, the essence of which is reduced to the study of the algorithm for the implementation of an innovative strategy using V. E. Deming’s theory of quality improvement, which involves planning, implementation, verification and adjustment of plans; using a systematic approach to the study of the innovative model of the development of production and economic systems, it is proposed to take into account the logistic approach using quality indicators: demand, timeliness, satisfaction, deadlines, preservation, environmental friendliness, complexity, etc., and to calculate the assessment of innovative development based on a comprehensive indicator of quality improvement; within the framework of the concept of management, which includes four phases: planning, execution, control and adjustment, it is possible to coordinate all components of the mechanism of innovative development of the enterprise with the help of a whole complex of scientifically based principles. Practical value. Based on the results of the scientific research, the author proposes economic guidelines for managing the intellectual potential of an innovative enterprise, which will help to resolve the existing contradictions in the implementation of production and economic activities and will contribute to the development of innovative areas of work.

Metaverse-based Water Level Simulator for the Festo MPS PA Workstation

The compact workstation developed by Festo represents a bench-scale model for facilitating industrial process simulations in the laboratory and enabling students to study common control systems used in the industry directly. The latest development of the virtual Festo modular production system (MPS) process automation (PA) workstation has yet to be able to provide open access. In the virtual world, it needs interaction between the user, which still needs to be accommodated. This research attempts to develop a metaverse-based simulator of the Festo MPS PA workstation using the Roblox platform. This research focuses on designing a level control system, considering aspects such as the 3D model, control interface design, the implementation of system equations and controller algorithms, and the system’s response. The findings reveal Roblox’s potential in developing a virtual educational ecosystem for engineering, demonstrated by the design of an open-loop system with an average error of 11.4% compared to a real system. In the case of a closed-loop system with interactive PID control, the system response exhibits an average error of 8.03%.

Development of a continuous production system for Z-isomer-rich carotenoid/2-hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin inclusion complexes using a flow reactor and a spray dryer

Recent studies have shown that Z-isomers of carotenoids have greater bioavailability and biological activity than their naturally predominant all-E-isomers; however, carotenoid Z-isomers are chemically unstable and insoluble in water, hindering their practical application. This study aimed to develop a process for producing water-soluble Z-isomer-rich carotenoid inclusion complexes using 2-hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin (HP-β-CD) as a carrier. Continuous production of water-soluble formulations containing Z-isomer-rich carotenoids (> 55%) was successfully achieved utilizing a heated flow reactor and a spray dryer. We found that the introduction of the Z-isomerization process prior to the spray-drying process significantly improved the encapsulation efficiency of carotenoids, possibly due to changes in their physical properties with Z-isomerization. The storage test on the resulting powders showed that the formulation of carotenoid Z-isomers effectively stabilized their Z-structures. The findings of this study are anticipated to make a valuable contribution to the practical application of Z-isomer-rich carotenoid materials with high usability and health benefits.

Deposition and in-situ formation of nanostructured Mo2C nanoparticles on graphene nanowalls support for efficient electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution

To accelerate the transition to a green economy based on hydrogen, more efficient and cost-effective electrocatalysts should be adapted. Among them, transition metal carbides, particularly Mo2C, have gained significant attention within the scientific community due to their abundance and potential for high performance in the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). This study introduces a bottom-up approach involving chemical vapor deposition, impregnation in solvent containing the Mo precursor and thermal annealing processes to carburize the Mo nanostructures anchored on vertical graphene nanowalls supports (GNWs). The role of GNWs is highlighted in the above processes. First, they provide abundant defective sites on their edges, which facilitate the binding of the metal compound molecules. Second, they provide C species during the annealing process which migrate and react with the transition metal to carburize it. Thus, they act as both C precursor and support system. Electrochemical characterization shows that the hybrids can be very efficient electrocatalysts towards hydrogen evolution reaction in acid electrolyte. When used as a cathode in a cell, it requires only − 141 mV to generate 10 mA/cm2 and shows excellent stability after hours of operation, making them highly promising for practical applications. This study paves the way for the design of hybrid nanostructures, utilizing nanocatalyst deposition on three-dimensional graphene supports. Such advancements hold great potential for driving the development of sustainable and efficient hydrogen production systems.
